The difference in trailers
Today in lesson we discussed the difference between three different trailers; Full trailer, teaser trailer and tv spot. We watched the full trailer for Wolf on Wall Street, the teaser trailer for Oculus and the tv spot for Endless Love. We agreed that the conventions present in the full trailer include the length of 2:30 minutes, the use of the narrative arc, sound bridges, pace changes and unique selling points. In comparison with a full trailer, with a teaser trailer there may be an emphasis on the title animation, dialogue and with few if any sound bridges. Whereas the Tv spot will focus mainly on the unique selling points, it will usually have a condensed narrative and snapshots of narrative. I found this lesson very helpful because I have a deeper understanding of what is required of my trailer now. I am also considering making a full trailer because I can use the length to focus on the character development and psychological elements of my trailer.
